first off: i have been meaning to thank the lovely zoe for mentioning me in her blog. great blog, excellent taste and some really inspired makering!
secondly you should go make me a mixtape at 8 track. here's my first attempt it's not as streamlined as muxtape, but you can make multiple mixes which i like. lets hope 8-track doesn't get clobbered as fast as muxtape did.
work has been hogging my time to a ridiculous degree. i think i worked every waking moment last week. luckily the general summer pace involves a lot more yoga in the park than 80 hour weeks. i spent all day napping, reading online gossip and eating cupcakes to recover.
yesterday was the first summer day. 27 degree weather. yana and i went on a bike/thrift/ice cream extravaganza and i thought it only right to share the documentation.
seriously, if you are a thrifter and these pics don't raise your heart rate and make you salivate all over your keyboard then you are probably dead.
1) yesterday being the first day of spring i declare winters cold tyranny over! (and as i inevitably say about every season:) this is totally the best season ever. i've been biking to work for over a week and every day of not dying by bus or taxi is electrifying. 2) tomorrow is my 33rd birthday. i'm going to work today so i can lallygag tomorrow. this whole thirties thing is sort of vague. i feel better than i did in my teens or twenties, more like i did in my first decade. having fun, doing stuff. things seem to be mostly working out. i still feel like i should grow up and become something. but i'll start worrying about that for real when rodders gets a job. 3) i listed some of my more fantastic thrift scores in my esty. i'll be doing this more from time to time in hopes of funding my thrift habit a little and finding the best possible homes for the most wonderful finds. i'm also open for trades if you see see something you like. 4) went to see the watchmen in imax. highly anticipated and pretty good if you close your eyes and plug your ears for the love scene.why does movie popcorn not get all grease soggy? 5) time to go make some fauxstess cupcakes and prepare for a full day of ultimate hard core x-treme leisure.
feburary is a dirty no-good low-down yellow bellied son-of-a-gun month
- our brood has collectively been sick for a month now. rodney got pneumonia, mummers got a sinus infection, urs has vomited, and fevered her way out of the better part of three weeks of daycare and i have served as a personal welcome committee to every virus to hit the island of montreal. between actually being sick and hanging out with sicklings in at hospital emergencies i really wish i was on salary or had sick days. enough already! bring on the clear airways and uncongestion, the non-aches and un-pain. we have worked hard for it. - mom bought the most beautiful triplex in st henri. i an almost as envious as i am happy for her. i am really being hit hard with enough-paying-other-folk's-mortgages-already-we-need-a-home! - i am heavily addicted to WNYC's radiolab thanks to softspoken's mention of it. i've been downloading podcasts pretty voraciously but i haven't encountered much else that can compare in terms of being enormously entertaining and good for the thinker thinger. it may be a little rudimentary, but that's hardly a drawback in my books. some of my favorite episodes: diagnosis, choice, who am i?, stress, time, and deception. any good podcasts to recomend? - i'm twittering, and while it's nice to shoot out yelps of "here i am" "here i am!" Here I Am" i'm not finding this terribly compelling just yet. whats your favorite web app or whatever? flickr is still my home base headquarters but i do miss the old muxtape. it was so simple and perfect. the new format could be ok, but it seems to serve a slightly different purpose. -my camera is sort of fuckered. the flash no longer works and it's surprisingly essential for indoor winter photography. i'm always looking for an excuse to buy a new camera but i am also pretty broke and have little to no spare time to hatch and foster enriching schemes. i keep meaning to put a mother load of awesome on etsy but i need my flash to document all the awesome.. but my birthday is in little more than a month, so maybe if i start up the propaganda now i can convince the fella that it's cheap at twice the price. i'm eyeing the canon g10. i have the g8 and love the retro looks, the total versitility and relative unbulky and non-fussiness but i'm also tempted by all the beautiful photos i see the nikon d40 folks on flickr producing, namely the indefitigable bits and bobbins. - urs will be FIVE on the 28th. F I V E ! what the how?? now if we can just get her temperature down in time for her very first birthday party..
while it is not exactly rare for me to decide i NEED something that can't totally be classified as an essential, i feel certain i will die if i do not get my grubby paws on some of this fabric. i'm looking at you, jonna. any way for me to send you money in exchange for making you go get me some of this incredable goodness?
- sad to be far away from buddies but glad to make new awesome friends - urs has become a total little buddy while still pumping out all kinds of cutisms. today: "we are almost where we are!" - wish i had made it out to more shows but i'm really happy about new music like deerhunter (although my spellcheck wants it to be deerstalker which really is a better band name..), beach house, girl talk, no age and crystal stilts - i sold stuff at my first two craft fairs and met some of the most creative inspiring folks ever - i'm happy about my perfect job and all the awesomes i work with - i love my city and my city loves me - rodney deserves special mention for working so hard on the whole engineering thing and still getting the dishes and snuggling done. i knew the dude was smart and shit, but this is above and beyond. dude is a keeper.

- go to finland or at least take a vacation - more craft fairs, makeifying, thriftering and time for creatin' schenanigans - time to make a budget and stop spending money on stupid things i don't need like coffee and take out - no sugar. right after i get me some baklava at the jean talon market. and maybe considering eating the occasional vegetable - knit something more substantial than a cowl or a hat. mittens sock or sweater.. - blog consistantly, more often and more better - more live shows - learn fraaanch - more romancin' the man and helping around the house
I don't think its fair for me to be a juror, because I can read people's thougts.
i love liz lemon. she's my number one fictional idol. why is it my fictional idols (are always more human than my real life idols (like louise bourgeois or tove jannson)? i got this from the lovely photo jenny
